Adams County, Illinois

Adams County is located in West Central Illinois. It is named for John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the United States. In addition, the city of Quincy is also named for John Quincy Adams.
The seat and largest city are Quincy. The county is bordered by the Mississippi River.
Adams County borders Hancock, Brown, Schuyler and Pike Counties in Illinois, along Marion and Lewis Counties in Missouri.
Main highways through the county include I-172, US-24, US-36 and IL-57.
